How Can It Benefit Us?
Meta Description: What is the Schumann resonance? Science says it’s an atmospheric heartbeat. Others say it has more mystic qualities. Learn more in this post!
Discovering more about our authentic selves often requires us to know more about the planet we call home. After all, humans and the Earth are innately intertwined, existing in a symbiotic relationship where the Earth takes care of us, so long as we take care of the Earth. One fascinating way in which we are in tune with our planet is the Schumann resonance. This unique, low “hum” that the Earth has many interesting scientific properties and some mystical ones that show the power of our minds, meditation, and healing. What is the Schumann resonance? Let’s find out and see how it affects (and benefits) every single one of us!
What Is the Schumann Resonance?
Scientifically, the Schumann resonance has a simple yet powerful definition. At any given point in time, there are hundreds of lightning storms across this globe. Some of these bursts create electromagnetic waves that circle the Earth. These waves occasionally combine and amplify, creating an atmospheric heartbeat, according to NASA, that is approximately 8 Hz. As it flows around Earth, it connects with itself again in such a way that it amplifies its original signal, creating a resonance.
The frequency, duration, and amplification of these waves can vary with seasons, climate change, the Earth’s magnetic environment, and more. Essentially, anything that happens on this planet can cause a disturbance in these waves. There has even been evidence to suggest that these extra-low-frequency waves can detect earthquakes.
Therefore, the answer to “what is the Schumann resonance” is that it is a measure of the Earth’s health and wellness. Perturbations and changes on our planet will affect these waves, and thus we can tell when there are problems by looking at these signals. Indeed, it’s an electromagnetic field that envelops us and provides us with valuable information.
Our Waves and Electromagnetic Fields
Humans have electromagnetic fields too. To put it more succinctly, you are “a giant electric field which holds your atoms together, and which uses other electric fields to talk to other bits of yourself.” Of course, compared with the Earth, our electromagnetic fields are nowhere near that strong.
What is known, though, is that our brains can sense these fields. Indeed, they are the very thing that gives us life. We rely on them for our sense of direction, and we, like so many other animals, have specialized receptors to make sure we are in tune with and know about these electromagnetic energies.
While nobody has ever proved that the human body can “sense” the Schumann resonance, it’s not inconceivable that it does. This heartbeat that the planet emits is part of life. The fact that we have so many receptors to detect changes in electromagnetism makes it plausible that this resonance could also give our bodies and minds a form of unconscious connection with the Earth.
The Schumann Resonance and Meditation
One fascinating piece of evidence of this symbiotic relationship between humans and this resonance came from an international day of meditation on April 4, 2020. During this time, millions of people joined together to meditate and reflect, hoping to bring about positive changes and an end to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Schumann resonance went from the typical 8 Hz during this time to 76 Hz. Coincidentally, it coincided nearly perfectly with when everyone was meditating. During this time, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also asked 1.3 billion citizens to turn off everything electronic and pray.
There’s been nothing conclusive to link the two together affirmatively, but it is an incredibly remarkable coincidence. It’s not inconceivable that our state of tranquility, peace, and prayer could reflect in the Earth’s heartbeat. Indeed, it’s a perfectly reasonable explanation!
What Is the Schumann Resonance: The Benefits
Fascinatingly, the Schumann Resonance has many other practical applications for our lives. Science has demonstrated that the average frequency of an alpha wave in our brain is 7.83 Hz, which is the same as the average Schumann Resonance frequency. Alpha waves tend to induce relaxation where we can tap into our most creative selves.
Furthermore, experiments have demonstrated that not having waves in the Schumann Resonance frequency can be detrimental to our health. Between 1964 and 1989, a professor for the Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Physiology built a bunker that eliminated the Schumann Resonance. Student volunteers would live in this bunker for weeks. After enough time, their circadian rhythms would diverge, and numerous health problems would develop. After reintroducing the 7.83 Hz frequency, these students’ health would tend to get better.
From a biological perspective, it makes sense that our bodies and minds would have built themselves in a way that assumes Earth’s heartbeat exists. It’s our way of knowing the Earth is there for us.
It also demonstrates the importance of being in tune with Earth’s natural magnetic frequency. When we’re in tune, we’re more creative and relaxed. When we’re not, health problems may be right around the corner!
Become More in Tune With Our Planet
The Schumann resonance is just one of these life forces that our Earth provides. It’s a heartbeat that connects the people and the planet together.
At Sedona Mystical Tours, we provide an enlightening experience that lets you reconnect with the Earth’s natural electromagnetic field and the healing vortex energy within Sedona’s red rocks. If you can’t make it to Sedona, there are other ways to connect with our planet’s healing frequencies such as through grounding techniques or through amplification of the Schumann Resonance through sound healing.
If you want to meditate and become one with Gaia’s heartbeat, we invite you to watch our YouTube video. It’s an experience designed to help you relax, meditate, and find your inner connection with the Earth. You can also download the track for free here so you can listen without disruption of the non-healing frequencies of electromagnetic radiation.
Enjoy, In-Joy
